在民眾度過炎熱夏天的同時，輕度颱風山竹已悄悄成形。在南海的熱帶性低氣壓已成形為輕颱山竹(Mangkhut)，7日凌晨2時，它的中心位置在鵝鑾鼻西南西方1270公里之海面上，以時速24公里向西北進行。是否會影響台灣尚不得而知，但在影響陸地時，率先影響海上作業船隻。

今(7)日仍是高溫炎熱之天氣，東南部與恆春半島有局部短暫陣雨，西半部地區與東北部、東部山區午後有局部短暫陣雨。

氣溫方面，白天全台最高溫約在33至36℃，中午時，各地紫外線指數易達過量級，戶外活動小心防曬與飲水。

海象方面，北部海面平均風力將增強至6級，最大陣風8級。另受颱風與外圍環流影響，廣東海面平均風力增強至7至8級，最大陣風10級。
