「用字遣詞」、「運用權勢」、「用腦過度」英文怎麼說？看到這三個詞語，你的直覺反應是不是use words、use power、overuse brains？雖然這三個中文都有「用」這個字，但相對應的英文慣用語卻非直接譯為use，而是改成更傳神的動詞，說明如下：

Weigh one’s words 用字遣詞
想像一下，當一個人說話或寫作時，格外注意他所使用的字句：用這個字是否精準？語氣是否太重？的確就像在「秤重、估量」一樣，所以用weigh這個動詞相當貼切。
例：A mayor should weight his words when he speaks in public.（市長在公開場合說話時應該注意用字遣詞。）

Swing one’s weight 運用權勢
weight在這裡解作「價值、勢力、重要性、影響力」。把自己的影響力拿到別人面前「搖晃、擺動」（swing），這樣的動作用來表達「運用權勢」之意，非常有畫面感。
例：Some retired officer swung his weight to help his young wife get a job in the government.（某位退休官員運用權勢幫他的年輕妻子在政府單位謀得一份差事。）

Overtax one’s brains 用腦過度
納稅是國民應盡的義務，但如果「課稅過重」（overtax），就讓人吃不消了，就像我們每天都要用到腦子，但不能過度，否則有害健康。

例：”In order to keep our intellects sharp, we should not overtax our brains,” the doctor said.（醫師說：「為了保持腦力，我們不該用腦過度。」）
