北美四大職業運動裡，第一位現役出櫃的選手Jason Collins，本季寫下的故事有個更美好的結局：籃網隊預計會把他留下來，打完本季。

籃網隊2月23日宣布簽下Collins，給了一張10天短約，這位中鋒的表現，符合期待，因此第一張短約到期時，籃網又給了第二張10天短約。

聯盟規定，當第二張10天短約到期後，球隊必須決定，是否要把這位選手留下來。這段期間Collins證明還有在NBA討生活的身手，消息人士說，籃網隊會留他打完本季。

Collins本季至今出賽9場，平均上場時間9.8分鐘，只拿0.6分，靠的是紮實的防守，爭取到留下來的機會。
