海水溫度高 琉球珊瑚可能白化

日本「讀賣新聞」報導，氣象廳表示，沖繩（琉球）南方海域本月上旬海面平均水溫超過攝氏30.3度，平1998年創下的最高溫紀錄。高溫若持續，珊瑚可能白化死亡。

珊瑚是與進行光合作用的褐蟲藻共生獲得營養，但海水水溫超過30度，褐蟲藻將大量離開，導致珊瑚容易產生白化的現象。

日本環境省表示，1998年因海面水溫高，八重山群島的石垣島及西表島間的珊瑚礁「石西礁湖」4成硬體角珊瑚死亡。

東京海洋大學教授岡本峰雄表示，珊瑚孕育許多生物，珊瑚如果死亡，將對生態造成極大打擊。

位於石垣島的環境省國際珊瑚礁研究監控中心指出，目前還沒發現珊瑚有大規模白化的現象，但將努力掌握情況。
