舞蹈家林懷民 獲美舞蹈節終身成就獎

雲門舞集創辦人林懷民獲頒「撒姆爾‧史克利普／美國舞蹈節」終身成就獎，在會上，他的第一句話即是「感謝台灣」。

美國舞蹈節終身成就獎創立於1981年，為表揚在舞蹈界有卓越貢獻之編舞家。林懷民是第一位獲獎的亞洲人。

林懷民在會上表示，因有台灣社會之支持，雲們才能不斷有新作品。台灣在世界舞蹈版圖是偏鄉，但雲門仍能每年都到西方演出。他感謝社會給雲門機會，並認為應給年輕藝術家機會。

被喻為「亞洲最重要的編舞家」的林懷民，雲門的作品包含流浪者之歌、水月等約80餘部舞劇。
