美國堪薩斯州(Kansas)一名媽媽日前駕車送8歲女兒波特(Abby Porter)上學途中突然昏倒，危險之際波特機靈的握住方向盤，避免汽車失控，並在一名執勤警察的指示下慢慢停靠路邊，救了媽媽與自己一命。

根據英國《每日郵報》(Daily Mail)報導，當地時間14日上午8時30分左右，波特媽媽雪莉(Shelly)在開車開到一半時突然昏迷不醒，當時值交通尖峰時段，眼看情況不妙，波特鼓起勇氣穩住方向盤，讓車子在高速公路上保持穩定。

當時有名正在執勤的員警漢彌爾頓(Jimmy Hamilton)看見有輛車不斷的搖擺行駛，上前查看後才發現是波特正吃力的在控制車輛，接著漢彌爾頓將車開到波特前面，並指示波特用「撞車」方式讓車子停靠路邊，結束這場驚魂記。

波特的母親在接受治療後已順利出院，以冷靜的態度避免掉一場意外的波特也受到讚揚，漢彌爾頓表示，年僅8歲的波特雖然當時很驚慌，但仍英勇的化解這場危機。而波特也因此受到警長的表揚，並獲得一個獎章。
