媒體報導，陸軍542旅下士洪仲丘在禁閉室操練期間，導致血液中鈉含量過低，可能是洪致死的原因之一。軍檢署否認洪生前曾遭大量灌水。

針對洪仲丘枉死案，軍檢署23日下午召開記者會，向大眾說明案情。最高軍事檢察長曹金生表示，經過現場勘驗禁閉室，並沒有發現洪仲丘有遭到大量灌水的跡象。

曹金生表示，洪仲丘低血鈉可能是邊跑步，邊大量喝水，或是靜止中喝大量水，如媒體報導可能是頭部被壓入浴缸中灌水，但是經現場勘驗，都沒有如此跡象。

台灣腎臟協會秘書長吳志仁教授在記者會中指出，低血鈉可能是喝太多水導致，也可能是身體中的水份無法排出所致。由於洪仲丘在禁閉室中曾經中暑衰竭，因此他懷疑可能是中暑無法排汗，造成鈉含量過低。

三軍總醫院中暑防治中心主任朱柏齡指出，根據臨床醫學經驗來看，32%的中暑患者會導致低血鈉、17%會導致高血鈉。
